Every year I hear snipes long before I see them as they make great circles several hundred feet up in the air and dive with vibrating tail feathers perpendicular to their bodies (source of the sound). Took me several days to figure out what was making the noise and where it was coming from the first time I heard it.

Nice clarity. I have always liked snipes, but I have only seen pictures...never the real bird.
