Lil and I went to Venice by ourselves before picking everyone up in Rome. We stayed in a lovely "boutique" hotel, Locanda Orseolo, very close to St. Mark's and right on a busy canal. The first floor windows opened onto the canal and you could reach out and touch people as they went by on a gondola ride. We wandered the city, lost part of the time but that is the charm of Venice. We ate well and often. We drank Prosecco and the local Spritz con Aperol. We visited many churches and took pix of several. A wonderful time!
