Queenstown

We loved Queenstown. Sprawled along Lake Wakitipu, it has a nice compact downtown with lots of shops and restaurants. Our flight to Milford Sound was cancelled, so we took a trip on the TSS Earnslaw, a coal-fired steamer. We went to Walker Peak Sheep Ranch, about a 30 minute ride. We first ate a wonderful BBQ lunch, then watched a sheep-herding exhibition followed by sheep=shearing. The next day we took a wine tour of the Central Otago Valley, stopping at 4 wineries, one of them for lunch. I was also able to go up on the gondola for some great views of Queenstown, Lake Wakitipu and the Remarkable Range.
