Our last full day at the villa was given over to a tour of my favorite area in Italy, the Val D'Orcia area between Pienza and Montalcino with a stop at Abbey San Antimo to hear the monks chant and a final stop at Poggio Antico for a tasting of their spectacular (96 in Wine Spectator) 2004 Brunello. We stopped in Pienza for pictures from Via Del Amore, wonderful views of the Val D'Orcia. We also spent time in Montalcino with lunch at del Grappolo Blu. We visited the fortress where there was a festival ongoing and we climbed on the ramparts for another great view.A great end to our time at the villa.
