Totality, Eclipse of Sun 082117

Here in High Ridge, Missouri, about 2 minutes of Totality exceeded expectations!
Clear skies at the right time!
At Totality, it got VERY suddenly dark as night, and we stared directly at the moon, sun behind it! Black moon, corona around it, gray sky! And we heard a collective "wow" in the neighborhood from neighbors we could not see, and the crickets started to sing!
But those moments of looking directly at the sun and moon were like nothing else ever.
I got sequence photos of the partials... and good crescent projections through the trees on the ground and on a white cardboard box (small gaps between leaves in the foliage acted as
pinhole lenses")... but during Totality, no photos... I did not think of pulling the filter off the camera, with it, nothing to find to photograph with the dark filter!
But at least I did have the experience of looking directly, and in my own back yard!

The direct shots of the moon and sun were with approved eyeglass viewer from local library mounted in front of a 300 mm prime lens, f/5.5 stopped to f/8, aperture priority on a Pentax K20 D body (14.5 megapixel) dialed to ASA 1600, hand held.
The Earth bound shots were with a Pentax ist D body and 18 ~ 55mm lens, ASA 800, hand held.
I did no tweaking of the sun shots, all I did was crop down the image frames.
