I love these intermittent thaws we get here in the depths of winter. After weeks of bitter cold, the temperature shot up today into the 70s. This thaw will not last, so I went out with my Pentax K10 D to my favorite little nature preserve on Sappington Road.
The machinery is an old water pump from the days when this was a dairy farm.
There was still some thin ice lingering on the pond in the wetland area.
