Tarentum Pennsylvania July 2010

Tarentum, in the 1950s, was where people from Natrona went for their next level of shopping. Natrona was fine for daily needs, Tarentum for weekly needs, and New Kensington for serious monthly shopping.
Things have changed in 50 years.
I captured this group in Tarentum this past week, from along 6th Avenue above the tracks.
Weather was hot, humid, hazy, typical midsummer Pennsylvania glare.
Camera was my Pentax *ist D digital SLR.

Well done Ed, I like the architectural details in some of these. The diner is a reminder of fun times past. Thanks for the photo of the photographer at the cycle shop.

Thanks for the tour Ed. Looks like a great place to take pictures...and you did.
Like the Cycle Diner and the Sports Cars building with the wonderful turret
upstairs. A neat bonus is the picture of yourself photographing the motorcyle
in the showroom.

You captured the essence of Tarentum for sure, Ed. It is one of the towns in my area that is "refusing to die" from old age...renovations of some of the signs in the town (e.g. the "Chew Honest Scrap" - chewing tobacco) have been started to keep the past alive.
