Pentax Takumar F Zoom at Pleasant Valley Conservation Area
While putting away the Takumar A lens in the storage bag after testing I found I had this Takumar F lens in there.
It is very similar to the older A type lens in specifications, but made with the addition of coupling for auto focus.
Yesterday I put the lens on the same Pentax K100 D body for comparison. I stared out shooting in my backyard, the vine on my oak tree, and then took it for a walk at Pleasant Valley Conservation Area, Highway PP, Jefferson County.
Parked the car at Main Parking Lot and walked the length of Loop-B. It took me down a slope to the fenced off cave entrance, then back up a very steep switch backed climb to the main trail.
It was very hot, but well shaded.
I thought maybe the lens performed a bit better than the older Takumar-A did (see earlier gallery).
Both lenses have the same little annoying quirk: in regular zoom mode, they only focus to 3.5 feet. Then you switch to Macro for closer focusing. The effect is that it feels like there is a gap in effective working distance.
