Spring 2008 Macros

Although it still feels wintry, we did have some species blooming this week (early April, Saint Louis area).
I put my Vivitar f:2.8 / 90 Auto Telephoto Macro lens on the Sears Ricoh KS-2 body and did a few shots of a little arrangement my wife had made up.
The lens is a true 1:1 macro... at closest focus, the subject is projected to actual size on the negative frame.
ASA 200 Walgreens Studio 35 print film, available natural light, through kitchen windows on an overcast day.

A very nice arrangement by your wife and some beautiful work by you. I generally like the impact and emphasis lent by a contrasting background like m_22, but the combination of pastels in m_14 is just as pleasing. I like the overall soft lighting effect on m_14 as well.

Yellow with the blue blossom is very nice, that would make great painting Ed. Appears to be hand held. I've learned that with macro, it's critical to find that point in a subject that shows the rest to be at it's best. Good example of that is your M22_floral15. Background is blurred, as is the outter fringes. But the light beaming through does what you wanted it too. Cranberries could probably have used just a bit of diffusing to soften those points of light reflection. I'm bothered however by the blurred corner object in upper right. Sometimes it's difficult for us to see those, when we are concentrating on center portion, as you've done in that one and M20. Love the dark background and yellow blending.
