The Spotmatic F was the final culmination in Pentax's venerable line of m42 screwmount lens cameras. It is nicely featured with 1 to 1/1000 speed range, self-timer, DOF preview, hot shoe plus dual flash cable sockets, and match needle metering. And it has something else that the others did not: full open aperture metering! This was accomplished with an extra internal link between body and lenses specially dedicated to support this feature.
This example came recently in auction. Due to age and wear, it needed a number of problems addressed, and I felt I did so successfully. These are solid cameras that can be worked on.
The lens came back wth me from the ACG Gathering in Eden, North Carolina, this past Spring. It was very dirty, but fully functional. I got some of the fungus out of the inner surfaces, but not all of it. SMC Takumar 55mm f:2.
Nevertheless, results were quite satisfactory, with this film test.
Saturday the 15th of August was hot, dry, a little hazy, but a good morning to enjoy the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis.
First few shots were outside the Gardens at Gringo Joe's.
Flm was ASA 22, Kodak Gold for prints.
Good work on restoring the Spotmatic F to a useful second-life. Nice photographs
with good composition as usual. I am really taken with the Trellis (#06) view.
Excellent handling of highlights and shadows in a tricky lighting scene.
