The Sears KS-2 is one of a total flood of black-bodied SLRs made by Ricoh in the 1980s.
It is fairly nicely featured, with full readouts visible in the viewfinder, and a shutter that goes from 16 seconds to 1/1000 plus Auto, B, and Lock.
Mount is K Mount bayonet, so it works with most of the lenses made for Pentax and Ricoh bodies of that generation, plus others such as Chinon.
This example came to me this last season, I gave it extensive cleaning and repairing.
One day this past week, the sun came out of hiding and no rain or snow fell... so we headed for the St. Louis Zoo.
I loaded the KS-2 with a roll of ASA 200 Walgreens Studio 35 print film. All shots below were with an Auto Sears MC f:1.7 / 50mm lens, which would be about correct for the model.
Regarding the hippo shots: There is a STORY there, almost like an animation... pay attention to the eye of the 4th hippo, in the foreground, and what happens to the DUCK at the end of the sequence.
These are great!!!! What a great day for photos. The hyena looks so peaceful...Wish I was there!!!!.....Janice

The hyena has the right idea. Naps are good! Really like the falls
scene with the forsythia atop it. Nice work Ed.

Nice camera work. That duck is lucky. He could have been killed. Sure the zoo folks know that, but it's chance the duck takes being there. Spring will have those hippo's pushing each other around for mate, if they haven't already.
I've never owned that camera, but have seen them. If I see any more, might just grab them up.
