Saxonburg

Here a few extra images from my visit to Pennsylvania in August. Pentax M series camera with 50 mm lens, Konica/Minolta asa 200 print film.
Saxonburg is a very old town in the southern part of Butler County. Even though only 10 miles or so from my hometown of Natrona, this was my first ever visit. Main Street in Saxonburg is extremely "quaint." The town had importance, it is where steel multistrand cable was invented, enabling wonders such as the Golden Gate Bridge in California, and modern building elevators.
"Ducktown" is not in Saxonburg. It is a neighborhood built into the hillside overlooking the Allegheny Valley above Natrona and the steel mill. I was told it got its nickname during the Great Depression, when so many Polish-American families raised ducks.
