The Samoca Model LE-II was made in Japan in 1957. It features a built-in rangefinder for accurate focusing and a built-in selenium cell exposure meter with calculator to suggest f/stop and shutter speed combinations. It loads 35 mm film.

I found this one during the early 1990's at an outdoor flea market in Mayville, New York, at the north end of Lake Chautauqua. It needed a little work with the shutter and it was missing the cap on the film winder. I made my own replacement. Camera now functions quite well.

Set of images before the self portrait were shot last week at the beginning of our winter thaw at Rockford Beach, on Big River near House Springs.
Set following the self portrait was exposed a few days later on Minnie Ha Ha Beach in Sunset Hills on the Meramec River.
Big River is a major tributary of the Meramec River.

Film was fresh Kodak 200 color film. Since it was intended for my own developing in Caffenol chemistry, I deliberately overexposed a half stop or so.
The Caffenol process uses safe household ingredients and renders all films as monotone. I add the sepia tones later in software.

JUST ADDED below, on Tuesday March 2: a sub gallery of images I produced by converting the set of Caffenol images to 256 gray palette, black & whites... does this suit the coldness of the winter days?
