Pigeon on the Tracks

When I was young, I associated pidgeons with two types of places:
Church roofs,
and along the railroad tracks at the end of the street.
So when I went out on Sunday the 24th of February to flm test this Pigeon camera, I thought "Railroad Tracks," and headed to the Museum of Transportation, St. Louis County.
We had had another surprise snowfall overnight. Although the temperature rose to above freezing by midday, the solid overcast remained, and much of the snow cover lingered.

Film was ASA 200 Walgreens Studio 35 for prints.

I found this Pigeon at a "yard sale shop" in Cedar Hill, Missouri, last month. The film transport was stiffened up with old grease that had turned, and it took a disassembly and deep cleaning and relube to get it working smoothly again.

This model was made in Japan by Shinano in the early 1950s. Although Pigeons are not all that common, they are nice examples of Japanese 35 mm equipment in the postwar period.
Lens is f:3.5 / 4.5 cm, shutter is B plus 1/10 to 1/200 second.

All functions are manually controlled, the way I like.
Frankly, the sharpness of the lens surprised me!
