Pentax Meets Argus

I found another Argus CR-1 with lens really cheap on ebay.
This camera originally sold for $279.95 retail in 1975. It was manufactured for Argus by Chinon in Japan and imported for USA distribution. They are now rather cheap and readily available in used condition.
So far I did a cleanup on the lens, an Argus Auto-Cintar f:2.0 / 55mm in m42 screwmount. One of the aperture blades is a bit out of wack, and I would estimate that affects exposure by maybe 1/2 a stop when stopped down. Otherwise, glass is very good and focus is very smooth.

I wanted a preview of what the lens can do. With a p/k to m42 mount adapter I was able to mount it to a Pentax K100 D digital body. However, there is no manual stop down switch on the lens itself. About the only way to use it on the Pentax p/ka body is to shoot Aperture Priority and wide open at f/2. This does give a good idea of the lens's character, but severely limits depth of field.
For many subjects it seemed to favor dialing in up to 2 stops of exposure compensation.
All images are hand held and available light.

So, here is the best of what I captured, yesterday and today.
