Conditions this year have not been quite right for a really good fall color display. With too much early cold, and too mush rain, at this point some trees are going from green to bare.
Today there was a bump in the temperature, and good light, so I went out late morning in search of what fall foliage color I could find.
I had two cameras with me: A King Regula Mastra 35 from the Fifties, and a 6 megapixel Pentax K110 D digital from about 15 years ago sporting a Tamron 28 - 105mm zoom.
I shot a full roll of Kodak 200 in the Mastra 35, but with no regional film labs left, I will wait for the film to take a round trip by mail to Kansas in order to see those results.
The Pentax body is working well except that the auto focus is broken, but I was able to focus manually. The results were on the memory card, but they took a little tweaking due to the nature of today's color and light. My favorites are seen here below.
In my search for seasonal color I visited three local park lands.
"a" prefixed photos are from Pleasant Valley Nature Preserve (formally known as Camp Hi-Di-Ho), high on a hill here in High Ridge. Some trees were bare, but there were flashes of color here and there along the trails.
"b" prefixed photos are from down below in the Big River Valley at Byrnesmill City Park. Colors there were definitely past peak.
"c" prefixed photos are from Rockford Beach Park, a couple of miles upstream on Big River. The reds and yellows and golds there are mostly gone from the trees, the canoe party added a splash of color.
