July 30, Henry Doorly Zoo, Omaha, Nebraska.
A World Class Zoological Institution.
It was hot, but fortunately there are many air conditioned refuges.
I was switching between a Pentax ME body with f:1.4 / 50mm lens and f:3.5 / 135mm lens, and a pocketable Olympus Infinity Zoom, both camera bodies loaded with ASA 200 print film.
Very interesting!!! Never saw tapirs, peccaries, or jackelopes.. Gila Monster saliva is used to make Byetta a diabetic injectable (insulin).....Janice

Hi Ed,
Like the shot of the skyline in other mail. Your lizard is either a Gila Monster or prefer to call this one a Beaded Lizard, either is the only poison lizard in U.S. Can inject poison by grinding it's flutted teeth into it's victim while saliva with poison works it's way in. Very painful to victims. Most birds and mammals die almost immediately, where as humans won't forget a bite from either. You got some great shots there of that lazy monkey.
