Nikkormat FT2 January 2011

Our current challenge for the Five Mates Group is to shoot film in classic aged Nikon cameras, between now and Valentine's Day.

This model Nikon was introduced in 1975. Non-Auto-Indexing lens mount. Mechanical metal blade shutter, mechanical speeds. Fixed prism finder with split image focusing center circle. Battery is only needed for center-the-needle manual exposure metering.

The Nikkormat FT2 was intended as a scaled-down alternative to the beefier "professional" Nikon bodies, but many pros as well as amateurs found that they preferred carrying this one about in the field, it handled so well.
This is still a sturdy and capable piece of serious camera equipment after all these years.

Loaded with ASA 200 Walgreens Professional print film, and the 50mm f/2 Nikkor lens pictured, I worked on capturing the wonders of a very cold winter.
