This model Nikon was introduced in 1975. Non-Auto-Indexing lens mount. Mechanical metal blade shutter, mechanical speeds. Fixed prism finder with split image focusing center circle. Battery is only needed for center-the-needle manual exposure metering.
The Nikkormat FT2 was intended as a scaled-down alternative to the beefier "professional" Nikon bodies, but many pros as well as amateurs found that they preferred carrying this one about in the field, it handled so well.
After better than a third of a century, this is still a sturdy and very capable piece of serious camera equipment.
I just recently acquired this body and this lens. All they needed was some light cleaning, and a new strip of foam rubber for light sealing at the hinge end. Meter was still very accurate.
Film test was with ASA 200 Fuji print film, and the 50mm f/2 Nikkor lens pictured. It was Sunday, I stayed in Jefferson County, Missouri, visited the flea market, then took the back roads home.
Nice work Ed. The camera functions well and the f/2 Nikkor is sharp. I like the
carousel ponies, the golf clubs and the creek views best of all. I think you
have a 'keeper' Nikkormat. Thanks for sharing your good work.
