After prolonged drought and unusual temperature swings, I thought this year's fall color display would be drab and mostly forgettable.
Then something remarkable happened this week. The oak trees seemed to realize that this was the time for them to make their seasonal changes, and they erupted together in a blast of visual intensity.
This gallery was all captured from my backyard, using a couple of Pentax digital SLR bodies.
