During the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's, Crestwood Shopping Center on Watson Road (old Route 66) evolved from a strip mall into one of the largest and most dynamic shopping malls in the region. There were ownership changes, and the name went from Crestwood Mall to eventually Crestwood Court. As the big decline began, there were attempts to reinvent the several million square feet into a performing and visual arts center. It foundered very fast, and in an eyeblink it seemed it became a ghost mall.
It is now in the process of total demolition. They have started on one end and as of today have progressed perhaps 25 % of the way through the vast complex.
