Spiratone Macrotel 150 mm

I have long been a fan of the old lenses that were offered by Spiratone. When I saw this one in auction at rock bottom price with no other bidders, I jumped on it without much thought.
When it was delivered through the mail, I was not quite expecting to find that it had a variable aperture, but no focusing. It was apparently made to be used with a set of adjustable bellows.
Well, since I now had it in my possession, I felt compelled to find a way to capture at least a few images with its use, just because that is what I do...
I dug out a bunch of extension tubes that could be mounted to a K mount Pentax digital SLR and experimented with combinations that put the lens in the vicinity of 150 mm from the image plane.
I still could not actually focus, but I could, by changing the combination of extensions, find different distances for fixed focus use.
I went around this room looking for targets, then went outside, where I tried two different extension lengths.
Nothing really serious here, I was just having fun, and did it all shooting from the hip and hand held and in Aperture Priority mode. With the aperture wide open, the depth of field got very shallow. Stopped down, shutter speed and camera shake began to be an issue.
Other than that, I think the images from this glass have a fairly pleasant look.
