Sears KS Super with Trains 100817

Made by Ricoh in the early 1980's for marketing by Sears, this camera was essentially a Ricoh KR Super with a different name. I have several of them, along with some related models. They were manufactured in great numbers and a staple of mid price 35 mm SLR cameras for their age.

Lightweight, at about 1 pound 5 ounces including lens, filter, and cap.
It handles well in the field and allows one to concentrate on subject and composition.
Aperture priority, flash mode, and B settings. No readouts except over and under warning lights in the finder, no manual mode.
Ricoh KR mount, also uses most lenses made for manual focus Pentax K mount.
Vertical metal focal plane shutter, totally battery dependent. But it does use common A76 / 357 type button batteries, two of them stacked for 3 volts.
Viewfinder is big and bright with split image center circle as well as microprism focusing.

The weather was beautiful at the Museum of Transportation.
The camera proved adequate and enjoyable in use.
