Kirkwood Trains

The heart of Kirkwood, Missouri, midday in February, 2009.
I was on the Clay Avenue overpass in time for an arriving Eastbound Amtrak train.
The Westbound train afterwards was an empty coal train on its way to Wyoming to pick up more coal.
The stone depot is nicely historic.
I used a held pocket sized Olympus Stylus 1010 digital.

I got a report today that says this country is down some 30% in rail service. Guess that means goods and services are being handled by truck, but glad you captured some of American traditional travel. Ever been on an Amtrak, it's a trip you'll not soon forget. Wife and I traveled years ago to Calif on the Zepher, and kids had great time. We had a lot of baby sitters. Dome car was fun. You bring back memories for an old man.

Nice to see an Amtrak at a real depot. Omaha's is a tiny shoebox-style office and the Amtrak never comes in daylight...only in the dead of night. Nice views from the bridge and I like
the pretty lady in the big hat too. Nice work.

Ed, #14 & #20 are wonderful. Compositions are great. You ought to have these two matted and framed in your booth in March, Aja.

Your Stations are so Different to ours, All British Rail Stations have raised Platforms running the whole length of the train, So you can walk straight on and not have to climb up stairs to get on
