Imperial Reflex in Forest Park, St. Louis

Images are from Friday, October 30, 2015.

When I saw this camera at Belleville Flea Market last year, I just knew that I wanted it.
The Imperial Reflex was made in Chicago mid-1950's.
This is a mostly plastic twin lens reflex consumer grade camera for 620 film.
It has one single shutter speed (maybe 1/50) and one single aperture (about f/22).
So not much to do except aim and pull the trigger.
Viewfinder is pretty decent.
I tried a 120 spool in the chamber. It almost fit, but too tight for it to turn.
So I made some simple, reversible adaptations to allow a roll of 35mm film. It involved blocking off the rear window, smoothing the inside area of the back where the film slides through with contact paper, and using some pads to hold the film cannister in place.
I was able to load the 35mm in the light, then used a dark changing bag to remove film and to rewind (while sitting in the front seat of the car).
Exposures on the negative strip are a little more than 2 1/4 inch long, and the width of the film.
Because of the curl of the film, it was easier to scan the negatives without sprocket hole areas with my Epson 4490; the 35mm film holder held the file reasonably flat.

Film was Kodak Gold 200, in a roll of unknown age, certainly past date, pulled out of my freezer. Color a little strange and image a little grainy probably due to film age.

It was a cool overcast day in Forest Park. Fall tree color changes are lagging somewhat in the City.
Camera proved to have no light leaks, and film advanced well enough to give me 10 images on the roll.

One more interesting note: I read that Lee Harvey Oswald owned an Imperial Reflex, and that it was used to capture the well known pose with a rifle in his backyard.
