First Friday September Argus C-four Geiss and Caffenol

This is another Argus C-four, s/n 0340648, Geiss modified, that I have repaired and thought it deserved a day with film.

Last Friday, leading into Labor Day Weekend, the weather was absolutely perfect. I loaded the camera with a fresh roll of Kodak 200 and we went down to the Meramec River in Sunset Hills, Minnie Ha Ha Park. Back to the car, I still had film, so we ran up to the National Museum of Transportation, always a good place to visit.

Saturday evening I developed the film in Caffenol mix and fixed it in salt water, then hung it to dry over night.

Sunday I worked on getting the film images into digital format. It was the first time I used a new film mask that I built from scratch for the scanner bed. It worked somewhat better than the plastic mask from Epson, was also a learning experience.

The variety of subject matter once again showed me how Caffenol responds differently to different lighting and compositional situations. The Sepia tint was added by me, in software.
