digital snow

Home in Missouri, morning of February 1. Exactly what the meteorologists predicted.
We used to call ths type of storm a TEXAS PANHANDLER.
A strong low pressure cyclonic system gains strength in the Texas Panhandle, then moves northeast and across the Mid Mississippi Valley, pulling juicy moist air up from the Gulf of Mexico in advance, then over a mass of Arctic air pulled in from the North on the other side of the cyclone, making for heavy snow events.

Images 142 through 146 were captured with our simple little Samsung Digimax 130 (1.3 megapixel).
Images 1077 through 1092 were captured with my K 100D Digital SLR, with the 18 - 55 mm zoom, set at asa 200 sensitivity, 6.1 megapixel.
All images were tweaked in ACDSee, first resized to 900 pixels on the long side or less, then Autoenhance to correct exposure and color, followed by a 20 point reduction in contrast. It is a simple software program, but I find it quick and effective.

Please do not try to critique these too much as works of art. They are mainly to record the storm's aftermath.
