During the 7th Annual Argus Collectors Group Gathering (May 2008) in Eden, North Carolina, we had a photo contest for willing participants.
Each was handed a roll of same batch Fuji 200 print film. We chose our favorite Argus camera to shoot with, (I used one of my favorites Argus C-four examples, one which I had modified with addition of strap lugs) and film was exposed during a group tour of the grounds of the Chinqua Penn Plantation in nearby Reidsville, North Carolina. At lunchtime the film was collected, then processed into negatives and prints at a W**Mart lab.
At dinner time we got back our results. All images, the good the bad and the ugly, were shown to all, and we picked one favorite each for a democratic competition.
Wesley Furr, our Group Moderator, nailed first place with a stunning shot of a doorway.
I was honored to receive second place with the shot of the iron gate with rusty squirrel seen below.
Yesterday I rescanned the negatives at home... the results were so much better than the store machine prints.
