Argus C4R at Laumeier Sculpture Park

The C4R was the final variant in the the evolution of the Argus Model C4 camera, mid 1950's. Mostly it is the same as earlier C4 variants, but with the addition of the two stroke rapid winding lever, pop up rewind crank, and stud on front next to speed dial for mounting a coupled removable CM2model exposure meter. The lens is the non-interchangeable f:2.8 / 50mm Cintar.

This one, s/n 1608302118, came to me in the mail needing cleaning and some adjustments and repair. It was missing the normal black plastic cover over the top of the winding lever. I made my own cover with a small disk of plastic and a large flat washer, glued to the crank body.

The camera said "try me," so on a cool but bright Spring day in mid April I loaded it up with a roll of Fuji 200 and took it to the Laumeier Sculpture Park in Sunset Hills. I followed one of the trails into the woods and came across the abandoned swimming pool complex.

Film was sent off to Dwayne's Photo in Kansas for developing and scanning. Many of the frames were a bit overexposed, either due to miscalculation with the inaccurate shutter speeds or held meter. But I was able to correct easily enough in software.
