Argus C4R Geiss Conversion and Caffenol

The Argus C4R, final variant of the C-four, mid 1950's, is fairly uncommon. Examples that were modified by Geiss America with interchangeable lens mounts are relatively rare.
The likelihood of me running across one was very low. So a couple of years ago I decided to make the conversion myself, using two different cameras for parts. It was moderately difficult, but a success.

September 9 was a good weather day and midday I was able to make a ticket reservation for the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis. I carried along the C4R Geiss, loaded with a fresh roll of Kodak 400. (For backup I also had a Pentax K110 D with me and have already posted a gallery using the digital).

The next day I took the Argus out to Cedar Hill to finish off the roll of film. The Mill is still standing! The building downriver in image y.jpg is Villa Magnolia, which has a fascinating history of its own, once the secluded playground for celebrities such as Walt Disney and Lucille Ball.

Film was developed by me at home, using my Caffenol recipe. Caffenol process renders all films in monochrome. I add the sepia tone in software, because I like it.
