Black Ciro 35 at Missouri Botanical Garden and Caffenol
1948 - 1949, first there was the short-lived Perfex-built Cee-Ay 35, the design of which was modified by Ciro Camera of Delaware, Ohio, to make the Ciro 35, which very soon was bought up by Graflex to make their version. In my opinion, this line of cameras owed a lot in design and concept to both Argus and to Bolsey. I very much like the outcome, the Ciro 35 handles very nicely and is capable of excellent images.
Sunday October 17 was a beautiful early Fall day in St. Louis. With a roll of Kodak 400 loaded into an early variant of the Ciro 35 (serial # 502114) with all-black body and f:4.5 Wollensak lens, I took the long walk through Missouri Botanical Garden.
The filmstrip was developed with the Caffenol process here in my studio, using all safe household ingredients for the chemistry.
The long scratches in the emulsion at the beginning of the roll were a bit unfortunate. I think that happened as I was I was unspooling the wet film after removing it from the developing tank.
