Sunday, August 9, was Argust Day.
This is a day that occurs each August since the year 2001 when lovers of Argus cameras go out and use their beloved classics to record the sights of their day.
Armed with a C4 (which I modified a few years ago with strap lugs) and my little blue Argus Bean Sprout (for backup) in my primary bag (I had a second bag with another C4 in the car, just in case), I drove down into the City of St. Louis...
First stop was the "New" Cathedral, R.C., Basilica, I arrived at the close of services. The Cathedral reputably has the world's largest collection of Mosaic Tile Art on the spacious interior surfaces. And whenever I enter that space, I very well believe the reports.
From there, I hunted down the Continental Life Building, dating from just before the great Depression, and restored in recent years. Many call it their favorite old skyscraper in St. Louis, very Art Deco and stylish in its lines.
Next stop was Market Street at 20th downtown, where I parked, then explored Union Station, one of the world's busiest rail stations during WW II.
It was a short walk down the street past the main US Post Office to the facade of the Kiel Opera House...
and then Home.
The weather was very hot, near 100 F, but mostly sunny, a good day for color photography.
Here are what I think were the best of my Argus C4 images from the day, captured on ASA 200 Kodak Gold.
