Each year on Argus Day, Argus camera lovers around the world capture images with
their favorite Argus cameras.
This year the day was celebrated on August 19, 2019.
A sampling from each photographer will be collected and displayed on a group
webpage for the Argus Collectors Group (ACG) at Yahoo Groups and posted in the
near future.
This year I captured shots with three different cameras:
An Argus C-four modified with strap lugs, loaded with Kodak ASA 200 print film. The
C-four probably remains my favorite model of classic Argus;
The "Green Velour Monster" Argus C3, modified for m42 screwmount lenses, with a
Ricoh/Sears f:1.4 / 55mm lens, and loaded with Kodak ASA 200 print film. The rear
objective of that fast lens was so large and the throat of the C3's shutter so narrow that
particularly at smaller apertures the image vignetted a good bit, with a dark area encircling
the subjects. But the subjects were nice and sharp in focus;
And for digital backup, the latter day Argus "Cintar" pictured below.
My wife Joyce and daughter Pam joined me as a team as we photographed at home
and at the St. Louis Zoo.
