Argus Model C, Holidays 2023

1938. Argus introduced its second major camera body type with the Model C.
No.10317C, depicted here, is from the second variant, the first variant's F/S switch left off and two-tiered speed dial simplified and improved with a single set of numbers on the dial. Very few of the first variant were made before the change.

Note the Model C's lack of a coupling gear between rangefinder distance dial and lens.

This example here has an anomaly, with the removable cover over the rangefinder internal adjustments. The cover probably came when the camera was in on a service call, and the entire rangefinder assembly updated.

The camera cleaned up well and was ready for film testing without major new repairs.
I loaded it with an expired roll of Kodak ASA 200 color film and proceeded to test the very limits of the camera's capabilities. I found some of the results interesting.

Image number "m.JPG" was an unintended double exposure. This happens easily with a Model C, C-2, or C-3, since the film wind lock is not coupled to shutter operation.

Subjects are in High Ridge and Fenton Missouri.

I developed the film myself at home with my recipe for Caffenol chemistry, using safe household ingredients.
