Argus Cintar in Pentax Mount

Recently I stated on ACG email forum that one of my favorite lenses is the 50mm Cintar used by Argus on their C3 Matchmatic and C3 Standard cameras in the late 1950's and 1960's. The two lenses are essentially the same, except for the way the aperture stops are labeled.

This week looking in a parts bin I came across the front portion of a Matchmatic Cintar lens, missing the rear mount section. So I took a Pentax K Mount body cap, drilled a 1 and 1/4 inch hole in the plastic cap, and devised a way to install the Argus lens portion. I also drilled a shallow hole on the inner edge of the plastic cap to match the locking pin location on Pentax body mounts.

This hybrid assembly lacks any focus capability, and is fixed at a focus distance of 4 feet from any subject.

I attached it to a Pentax *ist digital SLR body to see how it might perform.
A few shots were around the house, the rest of them are at St. Martin's cemetery, oldest burial ground in High Ridge.
Stopping the lens down to smaller apertures gave the lens more depth of field, but even at 4 feet and wide open, the performance of the lens did not disappoint me.
These are all hand held, aperture priority mode.
