Argus 40 in Kirkwood 042612

I purchased this camera at the Belleville Flea Market last weekend.
It cleaned up nicely.
The Forty is one of the later models of twin lens cameras built by Argus, date stamp shows this one was made September of 1953.
The Forty has a much more sophisticated lens and shutter than the popular Argoflex 75 series.
These cameras were built to accept size 620 film only in a 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 inch format.
620 film is for most purposes no longer available. But it is a fairly easy task to re-roll size 120 film onto a 620 spool... the film is essentially the same, the spool is the difference.
After cleaning and inspection, I loaded the camera with a roll of Fujicolor Reala, from my freezer, and re-spooled for 620 use.
First two frames are spring flowers here at home.
The abandoned pawn shop is in Murphy Flats.
The remainder are downtown Kirkwood, Missouri.
