Argus 21 Markfinder at Botanical Gardens

The Model 21 was made in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from 1947 until 1952.
This particular example, serial number 0000060293, was of the final variation, and most probably from 1952, near the end of the entire production run of 65,000 cameras.
The 21 is often overlooked, but I find it an excellent photographic tool. It handles well, steady in the hands when the shutter runs off.
The finder is of superb design, with clear projected frame lines and a cross visible at the center of the image area.
The 50mm lens is unexpectedly sharp in rendition. It is of a uniquely machined screwmount size and easily removed. I never did understand why Argus did not build lenses of other focal lengths for the 21, it would have been a logical move.

Sunday February 11 was a beautiful day in St.Louis, a nice thaw after some bone chilling cold. We took the 21 to the Missouri Botanical Gardens for a test roll.
The annual Orchid Show was in session, an added bonus.
Film was Konica Minolta Centuria 200 print film.
