Canon AE-1 on Winter Day

I found a box of out of date Fuji 400 Superia color film at a Goodwill, one dollar for the entire box. There was no way to know whether the film was still viable.
At another thrift store I found a clean looking Canon AE-1 for ten dollars. I proceeded to clean up the Canon and had hopes for it, but then the shutter failed and attempts to repair it did not go well.

The Canon AE-1 was, according to what I heard years ago, one of the most prolifically made 35mm SLR cameras ever, with millions of them put into circulation. They were also well designed with great capabilities for their time.

The one from the thrift store set an urge in motion. So I took a good working example off my shelf and loaded it with a roll of the thrift store Fuji 400.

Tired of waiting for a nice day and a good opportunity, I went out with it on a cold and gloomy February day, when at least it was not snowing. I walked the paths along the Meramec River, and looked around home for appropriate subjects.

The Canon AE-1 reminded me that it was always a good camera, and a joy to work with.
And the questionable film turned out to be somewhat viable.
