This has been a strange year for the weather and all thing related. After a wet Spring, the last month or more we have plunged into a deep drought, nothing but a rare light sprinkle. Rain systems and storms have gone around and pretty well missed High Ridge. And the heat came about a month early. Our lawn is crisp, the ground is hard. My irises and Peonies did not have a single bloom this year. But some of the other flowers did quite well. Keeping with the desert theme, the yucca plant next to the front porch after several years of slow growth has finally, for the first time, burst into a big bunch of blossoms!
This was the scene yesterday just outside my front door.
