Just outside Houston Texas sits the Battleship Texas. She saw action in the invasions of Morocco, Normandy and Southern France. She also provided support for the landing at Iwo Jima and took part in the invasion of Okinawa. USS Texas was officially transferred to the state in ceremonies at San Jacinto Battleground on April 21, 1948.
