October 2012 - Oklahoma City

I was traveling at the end of October to Oklahoma City, OK, when Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast. While no one in my family was affected, it disrupted travel, and left me with an extra day. The weather in OKC, ironically, was cloudless skies and bright sun, with temps in the 60s.

Here are some explorations of downtown OKC; from the minor league ballpark next to my hotel, to the beautiful (if somewhat forlorn) art deco train station to the classic Colcord hotel with the Devon Energy tower behind it.

The most moving part of the day was going to the Oklahoma City National Memorial, which remembers the events of April 19, 1995, when Timothy McVeigh left a truck bomb to explode right outside the Alfred P Murrah Federal Building in downtown. The memorial itself is quite moving, and the attached museum is heartwrenching.

All photos were taken with the iPhone.
