Rick's Madeiran Garden

Hello! All these photos except a very few were taken in my garden in an effort to capture my Bromeliads at their peak. Bromeliads for me have always had a special attraction. Here in Madeira the climate is very well suited to practically all species of Bromeliads and Tillandsias- Brom's tend to flower erratically at any time of year though Febuary and July seem to be peek periods. I've grown Brom's in my garden for 30 odd years slowly I really began to take note and realize the perfect beauty of these flambouyant plants, their extreme variety in flower forms and colors their generosity and the fun involved in caring for, grooming and observing them. Bromeliads are much tougher and productive than most people imagine, and like the Tillandsia group adapt readily to their environment and circumstances,.
I still draw a deep breath when I see several in full bloom as a group! This is something that will never leave me now. I'm addicted and can see how others before me became so enthralled and made them a life study and passion.

Funny how my Amazon Macaw (Gaia) suits Bromeliad flowers. Not hard to see why Brazilian Carnival is so colourful!
