From Giardini Naxos near Taormina we made a trip to Lipari and Vulcano.
First with a bus via Messina to Milazzo where we went aboard a fast catamaran.
Lipari and Vulcano are situated above the northern coast of Sicily and are part of the Eolian(7) islands.
The landscape is fascinating due to the volcanic origin(Stromboli still active)and the whole region has a very rich history due to numerous conquerors and occupiers.
Of course these islands where the inspiration for numerous ancient Greek myths.
