The landscape version of this one - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/86608111 Converted this to high contrast B&W (it pretty much was that anyway) and left just a touch of color where the sun lit the dirt road.
Wonderful photo-op to get smoke back lit by a low setting sun to give nice distinct "God's Rays" like this. I was planning to go down this road a few miles but it was closed due to fire. Probably worked out for the best (photographically speaking).
Oh, beautiful. Very intimate. (I feel like I'm there on the road.)
This is one instance where I think selective color is a perfect choice. And the foreground framing in the lower corners is very interesting.
P.S. I'm glad to read it was a controlled burn.

Although I like this image a lot, I think I prefer the other one you point to in your post. Why? Not sure, but I think because of its overall brightness compared to this one. Not sure how the 'rays' would change, but I feel the overall image is too dark. For me. Otherwise, a very nice image.
