6/20/08 - Coneflower

The cone flowers are starting to bloom. They usually make interesting floral subjects. This one was shot wide open to use selective focus and reduce the background distractions. I don't recall what the source of the orange-gold background glow was but am sure that it works better as a hazy blur as it is here rather than a more distinct object.

Very nice image. Helps prove the idea that you shouldn't put the subject smack dab in the center! Really like the colors. Can I borrow your D300?
