Getting pretty comfortable controlling different hues independently as well as control of the overall the tonal range and the ability to place a specific image tone in "zone 5" (mid-gray).
Here I virtually eliminated the green foliage in the original by reducing the "film sensitivity" to green (thus making it dark). However, notice that the green of the blossom (top right) was retained through selective application of the reduced green sensitivity - just want to lose the background and not the top of the flower.
