There's red & then there's red. Yesterday's PAD and today's both featured red dogwoods - but two different trees. The difference in the colors is significant.
After commenting in yesterday's PAD about preferring the macro lens over the 18-200 because of better selective focus options, I used the macro lens today. I did take several shots at the identical f/stop and framing with both lens (which provides the same DOF) in order to see how they compared otherwise. The "out of focus elements", the so called bokeh, were much, much more pleasing with the f/2.8 prime macro lens than the same shot made with the18-200 zoom. Note to self - use the Nikkor macro when given the opportunity.
