About 4 years ago, when I was beginning photography, someone complimented me on the use of complementary colors in an image (notice how I managed complIment & complEment in one sentence). I hadn't a clue what was meant.
Drove past this scene several times before deciding to go back while the colors were still there. I'd have stopped sooner but it was one of those places where there was no place to park without a hike (my gear that I carry weighs a bit over 30 pounds so I don't take hikes "lightly" - pun intended). I think, besides the colors, I was attracted to the scene due to its similarity to one I'd seen last week while critiquing images for a club with two others. One of them made reference to an image (similar to this one) as being pointless. I thought the remark was unkind and out of character for the judge until I realized he had said Pointellist (as in the painting style) and not Pointless - my challenged ears weren't up to the challenge. (It seemed funny then, but maybe you had to be there.)
Used my 105mm 1:1 macro lens with a 1.4x teleconverter. About 75 yards away. It's good for things other than macros. Tried the 18-200 with identical framing also but preferred this one.
