A common sight along the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park - or at least common on the type of day that I choose to visit. I recall being somewhat awestruck the first time I saw a scene like this five years ago (other than from a plane). But, then, maybe I'm easily impressed.
It makes for an interesting technical exercise to get the focus and the exposure (especially) right so as to retain detail and tones without losing the mystery. Of course lighting on a day like this has a very small tonal range so it's not really that hard to do.
