Done entirely in camera (except cropping to 5x4 and setting a black point to make the black backdrop truly black - should have done the latter in camera via exposure compensation). This is a two shot multiple exposure - the first zooms in on a flat 2-D "toothpick box" smoothly (from 22 to 200 mm) to give the box a 3-D appearance and the second is just the green "X" - placed where the box used to be. If I were really anal, I'd redo this with more precise sizing and placement of the sides of the box.
Now the gears are turning - creating "3-D" images. I have a lot of colored pipe cleaners which would be easier to work with than toothpicks.......hmm. Maybe adding black light....hmm. How about replacing the green X with a small figure appearing to walk down the red "hall"??? hmm. Maybe someone has way too much free time.
